A few weeks ago the kids gathered up all of their money and asked their Dad (not Mom) if he would take them over to Petsmart so they could buy a rodent. So, we have done critters in the past. The first was a gerbil that died of a heart attack because Sophie found it's cage and gave it a joy ride around the backyard. Second, a guinea pig that we kept for a couple months, but was soooo stinky we ended up giving it away at a garage sale. The third was a snake that Jaden got for his 8th birthday. One day he escaped his poorly devised container and we have never been able to find him (probably hiding, growing, waiting for the time to seek its revenge). The fourth was "Feaby Muffin", a cute litte dwarf hamster. You would think we (when I say "we" I really mean Darren) would have learned from our past mistakes. Well cute little Feaby lasted three weeks. The poor thing probably died because she came to the critter cursed Lovin house. The kids really did love her, and she was actually pretty cute. This is how she will be remembered...
Feaby Muffin Lovin
Will be remembered for how fast she went on her wheel.
Rest in Peace little Feaby.

Oh, Im laughed so hard I cried..I mean no disrespect. I had a hampster name phoebe... (spelling different, pronounced the same) She lasted a bit longer. But has since gone to hampster heaven too.
That is exactly how our pet history was growing up. We had one hamster that choked on a carrot and one that crawled into the heater and was toasted. That's why my poor kids have no pets. I know horrible mom.
Haha! That is too funny because that is EXACTLY how is was in our home growing up! We have had fish that have lasted two weeks because they jumped out of their bowl, hamsters that have chewed their way out of a plastic cage, a lizard who lasted a month, and horny toads that were cooked to death because our Mom put them outside and they roasted in their plastic cage from being out in 100 degree weather. Plus all of the dogs we have had! So it's not your family...it really is the Lovin curse!
P.S. Can't wait to see you guys in a few weeks! :-)
Thats so funny! what a clever boy. I am sorry to say that I am not that sad to see it go. You know how much I hate all kinds of rodents. I am sad for the kids but maybe now they will stop torturing me about the dumb thing.
That is the greatest story EVER!
OOOhh poor, poor phoebe Ü
I knew I was in for a treat when I saw the makeshift, biodegradable headstone. Oh sweet Feeby.
This is one of my great hindrances in getting an animal. They are bound to die & I don't think my docile heart could take it. (Remember the chicken story. I balled like a baby for days.)
So, good for you. At least your children are learning about the circle of life. Perhaps we'll start off with something small, like a hermit crab. Or maybe I'll just have them watch "The Lion King again."
